FAQ ON REHOMING A DOG WITH SSDR

Q. WHAT IS THE REHOMING PROCESS?

1. We ask that your fill in a relinquish form for a dog you are looking to rehome, ensuring you give as much detail as you can about your dog and a background to why you are giving them up.

2. Once received, a member of the SSDR Coordinating team will be in touch to arrange an assessment on your dog. Due to relying on volunteers to carry out assessments there can be a short delay while your coordinator organises a time and date suitable.

3. Once assessed, your dog will be advertised via our website and social media pages with information about them to help find them a suitable foster home. ALL foster homes are matched based on the needs of the dogs, we unfortunately cannot guarantee the waiting for this.

4. When we find a placement for your dog, a member of the SSDR Coordinating team will be in touch to arrange the hand over of your dog. They may ask if you can help assist with transportation where needed.

Q. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR REHOMING?

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee a time on when we will find a foster placement for your dog due to the high volume of dogs being relinquished into our care. We rely on volunteer foster homes but you will be advised as soon as a foster home is available.

Q. DO YOU TAKE MY DOG ON THE DAY OF ASSESSMENT?

We do not take dogs on the day of assessment, they will be placed on a waiting list until a foster placement becomes available.
